Polycose & Neocate

Well, we had to go back to the Neocate formula. The Vivonex that we tried over the weekend did not help at all. So we are now mixing the Neocate as a regular strength formula (.67Kcal/mL). He is doing much better on this. The retching has stopped and he is no longer complaining through his feeds which is so much better for everyone! He is still losing weight though and is down to 7lbs 3oz. So our new plan is to very slowly try concentrating his formula with Polycose, which is basically glucose to add calories. Hopefully this will be easier for him to digest. Today we will increase to .70Kcal/mL and over the next few weeks, hopefully work our way up to 1.0Kcal/mL if he tolerates it (which was the concentration he was slowly gaining on with the breastmilk).
We have decided to put the Barium x-ray on hold as things have improved so we likely wouldn't find anything. We have a trip planned to BC to visit my sister and her family next week, so thankfully things are settling down and we should be able to go! We will have to drag the scale along, and any adjustments we have to make we can do over the phone. We are very much looking forward to getting away for awhile!

I'm so glad that it looks like you guys will still be able to go on your trip. I know, getting away doesn't change situations, but it would be so good for your family! I am still praying for Noah and that you will not be discouraged but be able to continue trusting God through all this. Noah is such a miracle, a work of God's hands. You are on quite the journey together. I am praying that you will not forget the Hope you ahve and be able to enjoy your time with Noah, not just be worrying (easier said then done)and rushing to Dr appointments....
I have to think about a year ago, at camp and how we didn't think we'd ever get to meet Noah... What a gift.

Yay - I'm glad to hear you're still coming! And it's good to know that Noah (and everyone else) is happier with the new formula mix.

I found your blog awhile back while doing a search for Nissen Fundoplication (my son is having this procedure along with a g-tube soon) and have found myself checking back in for updates on Noah. I just wanted to let you know how very special I think your family is and how encouraging your story and your faith has been. Noah is too cute! I pray for Noah and your family often.

Melissa (Zeke's Mommy)

You made all the delciate, inner parts of my body and knit me together in my mother's womb.

Thank you for making me so wonderfully complex!

Your workmanship is marvelous--and how well I know it.

You watched me as I was being formed in utter seclusion, as I was woven together in the dark of the womb.

You saw me before I was born.

Every day of my life was recorded in your book.

Every moment was laid out before a single day had passed.

I found your blog through a link someone posted on another blog. What a cutie you have in Noah! I absolutely love the pics of him in the dump truck! My daughter was a micropreemie and also suffers from eating issues and is fed via g-tube. When I read Noah's story, I immediately thought of the P2P messageboards. Several moms there have children who were born with PRS and are cleft affected. Here's a link in case you are interested in connecting with them:
