We Made It

After a small glitch with Air Canada first thing in the morning, we are finally here in Toronto. Air Canada did not have Noah's oxygen ready and so we needed to be taken off the plane at the last minute. Very frustrating, but the up side was free breakfast/snacks, a bump up to first class, our oxygen costs reimbursed and only a one hour delay.

But we are admitted now and slowly getting to know this place. Noah has charmed all the staff already, and despite waking at 4am, is still going strong. He's already had an ECHO done this afternoon and the plan is for lots more tests in the next few days. We are tired, but glad to be settling in.

Hello - I am pleased to hear that you are here in Toronto, but sorry that you had a frustrating journey. I hope Sick Kids has everything lined up to go smoothly. Perhaps later I'll post some ideas on where to get decent food. If there's anything specific you like, let me know and maybe I'll have some thoughts. For starters, the breakfast in the cafeteria is really not that bad (for a hospital), and I really like the Soup It Up in the food court. The other hospitals in the area have different choices in their food courts, and there are other offerings in the office buildings, so there is choice...once you feel you have the time to explore a bit, and while you and Brad are both there. Dinner is tougher because many things close early, including at the hospital. Don't forget the fridge and microwave in the family kitchen on your unit!

What unit are you on?

Glad that you are here safe and sound...

That's not bad--- only an hour and then first class!!! Sounds like Air Canada is improving by giving a better deal than they used to. We were usually compensated by US airlines but not Canadian. May God give you his Peace and also rest in a hospital away from your family. I hope Brad's back improves even though you are sleeping on hotel beds.

Glad you got here safely! And an hour delay is not so bad, especially when they were actually prepared when you did get to leave. Remember to ask if you need anything, we're only a short way away!
Praying the staff take great care of Noah... glad to hear things are happening quickly so far! I am constantly amazed by the care at Sick Kids...
