Toronto Day 32

Stuck...

At a standstill with the feeds...stuck at 2mLs (yes, a whole 2mls an hour) since Noah continues to dump. Guess he just wants to show the team exactly what brought us to Toronto. The Loperamide dose was increased in the hopes of some improvement, but apparently it is one of those meds that works really well for some kids and not so well for others. So far Noah seems to be falling in the latter category. Back home we would have just accepted the dumping as we have so many times in the past and increased the feed as long as Noah was comfortable. But as the team here says...this is not tolerating a feed...what is the point if it's all going through and he can't gain weight?? Interesting that here they are far less willing to push Noah than back home...thought it would be the other way around...very thankful for this.

Still stuck on the daytime oxygen too. And still needing the 5 litres at night. Not too concerned about all of this...it's just Noah's chronic lungs taking their precious time to recoup. The CCRT has finally signed off though...they were happy enough with his respiratory status to stop coming around.

I took the kids swimming this afternoon while Brad stayed with Noah. It was nice to get out for a while.

Sorry to hear that Noah is "stuck" on his feeds. I was hoping to read that things were progressing nicely. Sending up prayers as you work with the team on Noah's behalf. You are both wonderful advocates for Noah, and he is blessed to have both of you as his parents.

"Be strong. Take courage. Don't be intimidated. Don't give them a second thought because God, your God, is striding ahead of you. He's right there with you. He won't let you down; he won't leave you." Deut 31:6 (The Message)

Missing you all, hugs to all of you and hugs to my Bean...

As always, thanks for the update. Sorry to hear that you are feeling very stuck, but it does sound as though you are comfortable with the team. Is Noah able to get out and about the hospital? And is there any chance he'll be able to get out for a walk sometime soon? (Mind you, the weather hasn't exactly been stellar...)

Have you thought any more about taking the kids up the CN Tower? I'd love to hear what they think of the view...and the glass floor! Yes, I only walked on that one after my kids dared me to.

I think it's a busy weekend in Toronto - Ontario Place will be busy (especially with Centre Island still be a no-go given this strike!), there's the CHIN picnic at the CNE (not sure about this one, we've just gone when Peter was participating in the cycling races), and I am sure there's lots going on at the ROM, the AGO, the Zoo etc. And I'm not even sure if Riverdale Farm is open given this strike!

I hope you are all enjoying your family time together. Please let me know if there is anything I can do at all.

Praying for continued pror=gress, and strength for all,
Alison

Hi from Banff! We are praying that Noah will continue to improve and that they can figure out why he has trouble with the feeds. Hope you all can enjoy some fun stuff while you are there. Thanks for posting pics. Kailyn, where are your glasses? Josh, nice cool hair cut! Love, Grandma and Grandpa L.
